This is a way to type kanji by building them up from their components. It's a work in progress.
Controls
- Use the arrow keys to change the selected cell, which is highlighted in gray. You start with just one cell, and it's empty.
- Type "/" to move in and out of enclosures.
- Use "shift" + arrow keys to create a new cell above, below, or to the left or right of the currently selected cell.
- Use "shift" + K, T, or N to create a new cell for a kamae, tare, or nyou.
- Search for components by their reading, or stroke count. In order to write an enclosure, the currently selected cell must be an enclosure of the correct type.
- Use the spacebar to find a different component, or a variant.
- Use "backspace" to delete the contents of a cell, or to remove an empty cell.
- To create the kanji, hit "enter".
Mockup Images
I would like to make this into an input method, like IME.
